There seems to be some misunderstanding of what SOS is. It is not a
wealthy foundation that is lucky enough to jump whenever and wherever
there is need.

Instead it is composed of dedicated people who try year after year to
get enough donations to help shelters. They do a good job of it.

Supporting that work are donors, volunteers, and people who make
products to raffle. They also do fine work.

The people there can only give what SOS has to give and in recent years
many shelters have had increased needs, with shelter operators having
reduced incomes and increased intakes. We have all read shelters
talking about those things time and again on the FML.

People in this world do what they can. Sometimes what they can do is
not what the recipients and their moral supporters would optimally
want, but that does not make any gift sent less valuable or less a gift
from the heart. Nor does it mean that regrets are not sincere when
there simply are not available funds to do more.

It instead means that the supporters of those who need more need to
find other ways to manage that goal on their own.

I am not in SOS but have followed their work which has helped so many
through the years. When people want them to be able to do an extra lot
the only way to achieve that is by making sure that they have the funds
to reach such a lofty goal.
