In an effort to help with shopping ideas here are some more.

Starch packing peanuts. Order a bag of starch shipping/packing peanuts
for a shelter of fuzzies to dive into. If you have never experienced
this phenomena you are missing the thrill of a life time. The ferrets
explode out of box of packing peanuts. For those without snow in your
state this is a good and much dryer simulation! Kind of like your own
snow globe!! Send pics if you get this gift!! These packing peanuts
will not cause blockages like Styrofoam.

They are safe if they dissolve when touched with water. Be sure your
delivery person has a place to put them. They are light and come in a
large bag. The package could actually blow away.

I was looking through Walmart for ferret items the other day and had
some more ideas. Check the sporting department for golf whiffle balls
or ping pong balls. They are light to push for the ferrets, come in
colors and can be picked up because of the holes (whiffle balls). There
ae some very tiny stuffed animals for about $2.50. (Toy department)
My Jillie has two little Quitos (the name given the stuffed toy by my
son) Jillie stole them and has cherished them ever since! They live in
her cage with her unless i tease her by kidnapping htem and showing
her I am holding them for ransom.

There are small boxes of Pedialyte idividual packs for about 2-3
dollars. Great component for a ferret first aid kit. You make it up
in an 8oz glass of water. You don't end up wasting much if they don't
like it or get better quickly.

Adult large nail clippers, you know the kind for those large knarly
nails. If you turn the ferret toe to the side and clip there is no
issue with splitting.

Large fleece blankets are often on sale 2 for 5 bucks. Who needs
fancy/spancy sleep sacks. When it is cold ferrets need other ferrets
and blankie to burrow deeply into. Cut them into 1/4's and toss them
into the cage, drawer or wherever your shelter kids crash for a nap!!

Many shelters make soup with baby food. Walmart - like it or not,
Walmart has the cheapest price on Gerbers chicken and turkey baby food
2 oz jars. Ours - 92 cents a jar. Grab some pumpkin (plain - no spices)
(about $1.50 a can) now in abundance so Diane Wall doesn't have to call
out of the country to find some!! If you toss them into aUSPS flate
rate large priority box it will save you $$ on the extra
weight/shipping.

Petco carries plastic bird dishes that are about 4-5 inches wide on
the backside and are a half circle. They work great as ferret food and
water dishes - my clowns require a clip/clamp on theirs so they don't
spill. They are real inexpensive and hold up well. $1.57 for one. You
can get them in two packs as well. Also, 1 inch metal clips with the
little red rubber tips are great for securing bedding, dishes, covers
etc. This particular kind usually come on a cardboard with about 8-10
clips on it.

I'll try to think of more ideas unless the tree is picked clean over
night!! Happy shopping!

We all have to stick together.
Cathy
