I'm catching up on my reading....here are some tips regarding distemper
that may be helpful to shelters (late info is better than no info)

When I was working as a wildlife volunteer (b web site link at the bottom of
this message. For first-timers please print it out and enjoy reading
this one to the kids and grandkids. :) [...]45_27Nov201019:18:[log in to unmask] 1011 14972 28 12_YOU kill it!9_Deva [log in to unmask], 27 Nov 2010 09:55:51 -0800474_- The nice thing about kibble is that when you pour it into a bowl, it
just lies there. You can peacefully eat it at you pleasure. But LIVE
food? Yikes, who's going to kill it?

I am standing on top of the coffee table yealling, "Mouse!" Where are
the ferrets? They have climbed up onto my shoulders and are looking
down at the wild animal and screaming with me. 'You kill it Mommy."
Oh heck NO! I am not stepping down on the floor. [...]44_27Nov201009:55:[log in to unmask] 1011 15001 75 10_no apology11_Nancy [log in to unmask], 27 Nov 2010 21:29:17 EST455_- [Moderator's note: I think it's clear we've moved away from the topic
of feeding when we start getting posts like the one below which are
closer to a personal attack than a discussion about feeding. It's also
clear the postings have slowed down. If anyone has polite last words,
please post them tomorrow or hold them until next time the topic is
allowed. Tommorrow's FML will be the end of the raw food debates for
a while. BIG] [...]36_27Nov201021:29:[log in to unmask] 1011 15077 12 56_Heads up to those that use wood stove pellets for litter13_Laura [log in to unmask], 27 Nov 2010 23:43:00 -0800262_- Was at Lowe's tonight and they've got the forty pound bags for only
$3.97 :-0! That's the cheapest I've seen them here in the Northwest
in a few years!

Safeway around the Seattle area sells similar 40 lb bags for $5.99.

happen, some directly, some indirectly. When a person drinks too much
there is an increased chance of placing dangerous things where they
should not be so if you plan on a blow-out this holiday season work
yourself first into strict habits about when things like medications,
some plants, macadamia nuts (which not only can cause blockages but
also are poisonous for your critters, cigarette butts, and other
poisonous items live in your house. [...]42_28Nov201013:36:[log in to unmask] 1011 15180 70 39_Dearest Bridgegreeters, This Just [log in to unmask], 28 Nov 2010 17:55:06 -0800544_- This just sucks, I thought I had years before I would have to request
a greeting for Merlin. My baby has been taken from me all too soon.
I know as a good mommy, you are not supposed to have favorites, but
Merlin was my favorite. It was a secret I told only to him. He was the
one responsible for renewing my love and devotion to ferrets -- he
came to me through a set of strange circumstances that I will forever
be grateful for. He was the sweetest, most well-behaved ferret ever...
everyone fell in love with him [...]46_28Nov201017:55:[log in to unmask] 1011 15251 46 44_Fundraiser for Wolfy and kat...prize winners13_kathy [log in to unmask], 28 Nov 2010 08:04:36 -0600466_- thank you all once again for all your help and support...we really do

Ok so We took in 3 elder chronically ill ferrets a few months ago-
one named Jordon, the others 'Sativa & Indega'(she meant Indica
apparently) - I asked the woman what they meant or why they named
them those unusual names & she said oh they just sounded cool.

I figured i'd search them at some point but never got around to it-
Well at Thanksgiving after talking about the newer animals here my
son in law informs me that these are apparently the two main types
of marijuana! Hahaha- I guess she was afraid to tell me that-

Soooo we've got little stoner ferrets!

Too bad they can't hang out with the Degus downstairs- Cheech & Chong :)

My smile for the day...
