Those of us who have done our research know that a raw/whole prey diet
is what a ferret is designed to eat. Their gastrointestinal system is
indistinguishable from a polecat's, as is their DNA, so domestication
has not changed it to be more capable of digesting carbs. This is
obvious from the high number of kibble eating ferrets who develop
insulinoma and/or IBD, whereas I've never heard of a ferret who has
been fed a natural diet from weaning on to develop either disease.
