Concerning a few things I saw fed in FML 805
Carrots: remember that carrots are high in fiber, and not very
digestible. As a treat only, and maybe 1-2 slices per day. I could see where
ferrets could get blocked with them...
Liver: Once again, only one or two small treats a day, tops. We hear a
lot on the board about how much ferretone will cause Vitamin A toxicosis. Well,
liver is the most commonly indicted food in causing Vitamin A toxicity in
domestic species. The liver stores Vitamin A, so the levels in leiver are
higher there than any other place in the body.
Now don't get freaked out - animals that get Vitamin A toxicosis are the
ones who get a diet of PRIMARILY liver (unfortunately, it's cheap). A small
piece once or twice a day won't hurt.
