Last night, we had to assist Coullette to the bridge. She was 16 1/2
years old. Her kidneys failed. It was the last gift of love I could
give her. All she knows on the otherside are ferrets.
Coullette and Scooter were both born on the same day. They had a
special bond between them. Scooter was a beautiful Blaze - he was also
deaf. It was so much fun to watch this tiny ball of white fur play with
Scooter. Never too rough, even when she got bite in the nose, she was
never aggressive to him. When I lost Scooter, I think Coullette grieved
as much as I did. She was a protector and mentor to the ferrets that
followed. So gentle and loving.
I know she cannot stay at the Stonebeary Mound, but I promised her
that she could stop and visit with her, brothers and sisters. Scooter,
Stinky, Bonnie, Clyde, Patches and Frazzle, she did not know the
others, Misty, the bears (DEWs) . But was told stories of them. She was
just an overgrown ferret in her heart. I know it is an unusual request.
She was so close to the ferrets. I also told her that she could play
with the ferrets in the meadow of dreams (roll around together and play
tag) from time to time. I know she has to go to the doggie section of
the bridge to stay. I am hoping being able to visit the ferrets will
help her adjust. After all after she gets her (hot pink, with purple
wings) it is just a short jaunt to visit.
Hercules, really misses his doggie, Pandora, is looking for Coullette
behind the sofa so she can nip her in the hind leg to play. They do not
seem to understand. The babies Apollo and Kaleb, Know something is
different.
Bless you Coullette. I will miss you.
