It is official! I am a procrastinator. And, every year I wait until
just before Christmas to pick my Giving Tree ferret so that I get one
who is "unwanted." You see, those are the ferrets I adopt - the ones
that nobody else will. For years I have taken in ferrets that were
dumped or that nobody else would take in - I can't count how many times
I have responded, If nobody takes him/her by the time I get back to
town I will take him/her. My current crew consists of Odie (dumped by a
couple in New York, rescued with the help of Brenda Johnson), Isadora &
Duncan (DMK rescues whose homes fell through 3 times before I kept
them; gracefully allowed to remain with me by Dianna Desrochers, who
was going to be their final home, after our wreck) and Koko (one of
two ferrets left at a local Petco and placed with me by my vet).

I tell you all this so you will understand why I didn't get to the
Ferret Giving Tree the first day it was posted. I procrastinated. I
waited for the unwanted. And, I am left out in the cold - or am I?

Every year people take ferrets from the tree and then, for some reason,
the adopters are unable to fill their role. So, this year I will play
"cleanup." If there is any ferret out there whose Santa is unable to
fulfill their commitment, please let me know. I would love to have
another unwanted little one with whom to share Christmas. And, if a
little one went to the Bridge awaiting Santa, if there is another one
who needs to fill a void there, please let me know that, too.

Thanks for stepping up, team. Second string standing by!

gets the credit!
