By far the safer thing to use for fleas only would be cat Advantage.

I've heard way too many stories of even "kitten safe" flea powders
or shampoos causing ferrets extreme problems.

We've always used a dose of two drops between the shoulder blades. You
can also use Revolution or Advantage Multi. Both of these will also
kill ear mites and heartworm as well. If you're in heartworm territory
the usual cautions apply of making sure they don't already have
heartworm before you give something that kills heartworm. I'd discuss
with your vet. The dose is different for Advantage Multi or Revolution
than the plain Advantage. Talk to your vet when you go for the
medication.
