within a few weeks. It is not until the last few weeks that most of us
have noticed any real results. We had also been questioning the results
of the implants and, frankly, still do to some end. On a personal end,
I have an adrenal male that did not respond to melatonin or Lupron. He
had little hair [...]49_3Aug201002:58:[log in to unmask] 1008 652 21 25_Re: Ferret that won't [log in to unmask], 3 Aug 2010 03:03:58 -0400543_- I've had to really baby some sick or finicky ferrets. Try making a soup
mixture and holding the ferret in one hand, while holding the bowl in
front of the ferret in the other hand, moving the bowl in front of the
ferret whenever it moves. I had one older ferret before that would only
eat soup from a rubbery baby spoon. I've got one ferret that will eat
very well if she gets to sit in my lap with the bowl also sitting on
the lap, otherwise she's very finicky about eating. Another ferret will
only eat soup made [...]49_3Aug201003:03:[log in to unmask] 1008 674 29 9_DUCK soup13_Lesley [log in to unmask], 3 Aug 2010 21:26:59 -0400605_- Where did the name "Duck" soup originate? Most duck soups that are
available commercially or from individuals don't contain ANY form
of duck. Duck IS a great source of protein and much needed FAT for
a ferret's diet. It also is prey that would be possible in a
"wild/natural" ferret, weasel or mink diet. We are fortunate to live
close to a large Farmer's Market which dresses their own ducks and
sells the duck fat separately. I have been buying and then rendering
the duck fat and adding to Loki and BART!'s nighttime meat gravy as a
supplement. It is [...]39_3Aug201021:26:[log in to unmask] 1008 704 26 60_P & G recall on specialized brands (Iams and Eukanuba types)14_Sukie [log in to unmask], 3 Aug 2010 15:13:28 -0400693_- http://www.fda.gov/Safety/Recalls/ucm220780.htm

good laughs, especially Alexandra's hilarious post.

I had no idea that when a ferret's rut is over, their little "jewels"
can actually retreat for a while! And I had no idea that the rut can
last for months!

You can learn more from ferret owners and shelter owners than anything
you will ever find on the internet in general. That is why I treasure
this List. [...]38_3Aug201011:44:[log in to unmask] 1008 753 15 14_"Ferret Fairy"11_Marie [log in to unmask], 3 Aug 2010 15:45:27 -0700202_- Ferret Fairy,

I too would be very interested to hear what other people's experience
has been with Deslorelin, and I hope this is something that can be
shared via the FML so everyone is as best informed as possible when
making a choice between Deslorelin, Lupron, surgery, etc.

My Oliver had been on Lupron for about two years before it quit
working. I got a Deslorelin implant just over three months ago, and it
had no effect. We are now considering Melatonin to help control his
symptoms and help him to feel better (e.g. reduce itching). Ollie is
7.5 yrs old.

It may be that the effectiveness of Deslorelin is reduced, the longer a
ferret has been on Lupron (which attacks the disease in a similar way).

Does anyone have other info or guidance to share?

Thanks,
Susann Thiel
