Well, I just talked to Marcie who is the president of FRES. Apparently
they are having their lawyer look into the issue because they would be
breaking their contract if they give Breeze back to me and then they
could possibly lose their non profit status. Huh? Can someone else who
runs a shelter in Canada please clue me in if this is right.

They could not verify who surrendered the ferrets but I said that was a
moot point - I knew who surrendered Breeze and Oliver - all they had to
do was compare the names on MY contract that I sent them and the names
on their surrender contract. She said that it's best for Breeze if she
remains where she is, that it would be detrimental for her to be
removed. They didn't have any contractual agreement with me and they
didn't want to break their contract. It was my problem that the family
who surrendered Breeze broke my contract. Seems to me they feel they
are under no obligation to make things right. She said it was wrong
for Breeze to be surrendered but it was just as wrong to give her back.
She said two wrongs don't make a right. My head is about to explode.

So they want me to just wait and see what happens while they check
things out. I couldn't get a time line while all this is being sorted
out - could be days, weeks, months. Marcie then wanted to know why it
wasn't ok to just have Breeze be adopted from their shelter. I tried to
tell her - Breeze was taking up valuable space in a shelter when she
had a home to come back to that could open up space for another ferret
and all expenses for Breeze would be reimbursed (I don't know any
shelter who would not want to lessen the number of ferrets they take
care of AND get money too - do you?) but she wasn't listening to
anything I had to say. She just wants me to sit by and wait however
long it could be until they can figure this out. Maybe some of my
friends in the states who run shelters would like to help explain this.

So I guess it's ok that Breeze was given to them under a broken
contract. It's just not ok to break their contract.
