I currently have two boys on the Deslorelin implants and both responded
very well, and pretty quickly. Pop (around age 3) had an enlarged
prostate and rapid hair loss. He was urinating in small amounts every 5
minutes. The prostate was normal again within a week or so and his fur
grew back within 6 weeks. Morphy (around 4-1/2 years) had the same two
problems, but to a more aggressive degree, along with erratic behavior
that included aggressive ear sniffing. I was concerned about his
prostate blocking, but again, within about a week, it was normal, as
was his urination. His fur has also grown back, at least most of it,
and it was also within about 6-8 weeks. His behavior improved within a
short time and he's rarely aggressive at all any more Neither ferret
needed any other meds to help their prostate. Neither ferret was
previously on any meds other than some oral melatonin.

I've had good success with the Deslorelin, and would highly recommend
it based on my experience. It's also an implant that needs to be done
only once a year or so, compared to multiple injections of Lupron Depot
during the same time span. And it's less expensive.
