Brenda,

The first thing to check on is WHICH Deslorelin your ferrets got. There
are two implants made. One which is easier to obtain in the US comes in
2.1mg implants, and has the brand name Ovuplant. This implant is NOT
helpful for ferrets, and in fact can make things worse because it's not
time-release. It would be like giving the 24-hour Lupron once a month.
There's a flood of the medication and then nothing.

The one which you do want is in a 4.7mg implant, and goes by the brand
name Suprelorin. This one is not yet FDA approved in the US, and is
more difficult to obtain, but it's the one which works.
