Sorry Kenneth but I truly disagree with much of what you said. I worked
as a safety person within research facilities at some of the larger
medical institutions years ago. I have seen what is done and how to
the animals. I have had to deal with the aftermath of those poor
creatures after they were killed for analysis. I also was fortunate
enough to become friends with many of the highly acclaimed researchers
at these facilities. What most of them will tell you is that animal
testing is needed to prove different theories and processes but it is
the regulating agencies of the USA that require so many animals to
"approve" a drug or treatment for use. The researchers say they need
only a small fraction of the animals to prove their product. The FDA
needs to get a grip and trust the researchers judgements on this issue
instead of going so far overboard with their requirements thereby
wasting thousands upon thousands of animal lives including our precious
ferrets. After all, animals are just animals and disposable right? I
think not. They feel, they think, they look for help when they suffer.
All of this in the quest to avoid litigation later on. Wasting my
time? I don't think so. Apathy is truly the real danger here.
