I wrote this many years ago because of the habits of ferrets - mine and
others.
Little Messes
There's a litter pan inside each cage,
And one beside the door,
So kindly tell me why you choose
To potty on the floor?
The food is highest quality
It's fresh and clean - ne'er bitter;
But the kibble that you choose to eat
You found beneath the litter!
A dish of fresh cool water
I placed beside your food,
Yet you splash it out upon the floor
Whene'er it suits your mood.
And when I kneel to clean the floor
With soap and water hot,
You suck it down and then you smile,
*Hey, Mom, that hit the spot!*
So tell me why I bother
To clean your messes small and large;
I guess it's true, my little ones,
You really are in charge!
