Happy New Year!....Good health to the fur and furless.
Just a reminder to you all...
When people get ferrets from pet stores, it is possible they are told
that they can use cheap and harmful foods by people working there who
do not know any better. Some years ago, one of major pet stores had a
professional sign attached to the ferret enclosure that said, in part,
that ferrets loved fruits and vegetables. How is that for a shocker??
I dropped off information concerning this. Shortly after, I took in a
ferret being kept in the back to die that still did not have his eyes
open: Sunny Rhino Mudd. He earned that big name in his little life.
Baby ferrets were torn away from their mother and sold way too early. I
wrote about this and the address of the store when I took in the baby.
The vet did not think he would make it. He was a little miracle.
A lovely lady at a pet store I just went to took in the ferrets at the
store because no one would buy them. They only lived a few years. One
died of a blockage. She did not know she needed to keep rubber toys
away from the ferret.
There are Lots of things for pet store employees and major corporations
to learn about our little ones. I am grateful to the FML for the chance
to learn and share. I wish more people used this resource. I tell
everyone with ferrets about this site. But I can tell that they just
are not that interested in knowing or learning more about ferrets. We
are the lucky and the few.
God Bless Us and the most adorable creatures I have ever seen.
Lisette
