RESCUED
Come here little ferret you've got nothing left to fear.
Don't you know that someone cared, twas love that brought you here?
Someone found you starving on your own and so alone.
They brought you here oh little one, that you may find a home.
This shelter as it's called will be a safe and healing place.
Here you'll rest, regain your strength, & maybe see the face.
The face of one who brought you here, you really couldn't see.
Your eyes were tired, your body numb for you'd been there a week.
Oh look he's here! Oh look he's here! He heard a child's voice say.
Was she the one who brought you here on that hot summer day?
You looked into her eyes and somewhere deep inside you knew.
That this was she, the one who came, the one who rescued you!
Oh please mam, may I hold him? She had asked the shelter mom.
Look, she said, he's very sweet, and he's so very calm.
He knows you, said the shelter mom, he knows your smell and voice.
And after that his fate was sealed, there was no other choice.
The girl looked at her own mom and together they had smiled.
The shelter mom knew he'd be loved forever by this child.
She knew that he'd be safe and that he'd never be alone.
And off they went, the three of them to his forever home!

Hide not amongst the shadows of grief,
but frolick openly in the meadow of memories.
