Contrary to what is being said, FRES has replied to Vickie by both
email and phone. Being a volunteer organization, FRES has merely
requested some time to review the documentation recently sent to us.
Despite the insults, inappropriate behavior and threats received from
the individuals involved and from members of the ferret community, the
FRES Board of Directors vows, as they always do, to make their decision
based on the best interest of the ferrets involved. A decision has not
yet been made.

Please keep in mind FRES's involvement in this situation is only due to
the decisions of others. The individual who surrendered these ferrets
to FRES is not the original adopter, with whom Vickie McKimmey has an
adoption contract.

To allow us the time to deal with this matter promptly, please respect
our request to proceed privately, directly with the individuals
involved, and not part of a public forum.

Please be assured that our foster ferrets receive the highest-quality
of care. FRES ferrets are not housed in a typical shelter setting, but
instead are housed in our members' homes. All foster (and adoptive)
families must successfully pass a phone interview as well as an in-home
assessment to ensure the home is safe and that the family is the right
family for that particular ferret. While in foster care, FRES provides
all necessary supplies and veterinary care.
