I live 1/2 way between Rochester and Syracuse, NY.  I can't seem to
find any one around here for ferret information!  No clubs, breeders,
anything.  Any help you could give would be appreciated!
 
As for ferret treats, feasel like those mini-marshmellows.  She also
like belognia, but dislikes turkey.  She will also tollerate ham.
 
The New York State ferret license application has been revised, here is
some of the text:
 
In the part "Instructions":
D.  Approximately 45 working days are required to review and process
your application.  {Was 30 days.)
 
In the part "Information":
C. NOTICE: Please be aware that local laws or regulations may prohibit
the possession of ferrets in your area.  You are advised to contact the
appropriate authorities of your local town, city or municipality before
you apply to the Department of Environmental Conservation for a license
to possess a ferret.  {Before they gave specific areas (mainly NYC
areas) in which ferrets were not allowed.}
 
The WARNING has been changed to:
 
{The second paragraph only, to save space.}
In addition, although rabies in ferrets is rare, they are susceptible
to this virus.  A rabies vaccine for ferrets with a one years duration
of immunity has recently been approved by USDA.  It is strongly
recommended that you have your ferret vaccinated annually.  Should your
ferret be involved in a biting incident, you are still required to
notify your local health authorities.
{It used to say that there was no vaccine for rabies, and that if your
ferret was involved in a biting incident, it put have to be killed to
test for rabies.}
