Re: Ferret names--our personal history

I am an idiot. When I shared my Shenanigans story about how she came
to "tell" me her name yesterday, I left out a word. That single word
was a key word in describing why and how I named my girl. That word
was green.

Shenanigans had eyes that reflected a strong green glow. During a rest
stop here at my home with the DMK ferret rescues, her eyes would flash
from the back of the room every time I paid attention to another
ferret. Through many carriers and cages full of ferrets, from out and
under piles of bedding and other ferrets, she was watching my every
move. Calling to me. I never saw such green (reflective) eyes before.
And they would not leave me alone all weekend. I was stunned to find
out that the girl was born on St Patrick's day. At the same time, Renee
Downs, my son, and someone who was not near the situation all started
referring to her as Shenaynay without realizing the other was doing it
too. Karen Douglas thought of the name Shenanagins. Lastly, she also
was the only DMK ferret to not bite me over the course of those several
days even though she was just as terrified as the others. Too many
coincidences. She was mine. And her name was Shenanigans.
