Today I had to help the most precious boy across the bridge. Vinnie
did not have an easy life. Vinnie and his brother Bruno were dumped in
front of my neighborhood pet store. They reeked of cigarettes and were
flea infested. Neither could get any sleep with all of the scratching
they were doing and neither were used to being handled. The manager
of the store approached me about taking them in, which of course we
did right away. They quickly became very used to being loved on and
cuddled. We lost Bruno within 5 months to Lymphoma and with Vinnie
we always had an issue keeping his weight on. April of 2008 he was
diagnosed with Adrenal disease to add to his Insulinoma. Vinnie loved
to follow his Dad around for walks and would always listen to Trevor on
what way he could or couldn't go, even at the end he listened - he went
behind the couch and laid down and Trevor told him to come out and here
he comes waddling out. He always loved to meet new ferrets, especially
the kits. He loved to go to the pet store where he was left to clean
and play with the new babies. He was doing well on his medications of
Prednisone and Lupron (always getting less hair back each time) and
Flutamide to help with prostate issues. Then we started noticing he
might be in pain and the doctor said he had build up of fluid and
arthritis in his lower back -so add another medication to help our boy,
we put him on Buprenex. Unfortunately he starting getting more where he
wouldn't eat his soup and the pain seemed worse so we increased the
dose but he became used to that quickly. The doctor believes with all
of his lymph nodes so enlarged that he now had Lymphoma also.
If you could please make sure that he finds his brother Bruno and also
his mate Rufus and Valerie that both left us this year. I was too
messed up to have them greeted properly (although I'm sure they were)
because Lymphoma hit them quickly. So please tell them all that mom
loves them dearly and misses them so much. I still think about them
everyday. Vinnie is a big beautiful cinnamon ferret with very long
canines and he will have his favorite octopus sleeper that he loved
to get all curled up in. Rufus (big albino) and Bruno (blackest ferret
I ever saw) will love to see their brother again, Valerie (sable)
probably not so much being the loner that she was. Again please let
him know his mom and dad love their little man very much.
Thank you,
Katrina and her very lonely dozen
