Dear Sue & Katy,
You will have to forgive me for taking so long with this greeting, my
mum has been in a great deal of pain and on some pretty heavy pain
killers. So I have been looking in on her to make sure she is doing
everything she can to get better. So I apologize, and hope this
greeting proves to be worthy of your wonderful BamBam and darling
Little Edward.
It was a lovely summer day here at the Bridge. We were all being as
lazy as possible, because that's what The Big Guy designed summer's
for. We were laying on a grassy hillside, sipping iced-mint tea and
cloud watching and having a great time, when Hobbes came up the hill
with his well worn - and much loved - courier bag over his shoulder.
"Here you go Pie.", he said, as he gave to me not one, but two scrolls,
"They are brothers, and those..", he pointed to the bottom of the hill
where I could see four ferrets dooking and playing as they followed up
the hill in Hobbes footsteps, "..... are their family, and were waiting
outside the couriers office for me when I came out."
He smiled and waved at the group as they meandered up the hill. I
remember looking down and seeing them approach, all with wide grins on
our faces. I recognized them right away. There was Timmy with his shiny
blue wings and a back pack, which I imagined was filled with his
collection of crocheted eggs. There was Hershel and Frye - both looking
quite joyful, and last, but most certainly not last Pebbles. She was
out in front making those boys all look like slow pokes!
I didn't even get a chance to open the scrolls before they were on top
of me telling all about Edward and BamBam. How fun they were, how much
they were loved and adored, not just by the both of you, but by everyone
they encountered. For me it was far better for me to hear about them
from the fuzzits they knew. It made them more real for me. A scroll
gives me a name, and the story of their lives, but it can not be
compared to those who knew and loved them best. They not only talked
about BamBam and Edward, but about the both of you. You might run a
shelter for fuzzits, but those that come to you, it is more then then
that.
It is a home!
It is a place of safety, a placed with with hope and good treats, but
most of all a placed filled with unconditional love. If that is not
the definition of a home, I don't know what is!!! They talked about
how well they were cared for. How no one ever felt slighted or scared
or neglected .... how very happy they all were.
You did that for them, and they will never, ever forget that.
The five of us made our way to The Bridge, and as we did they began
their chatter again about Edward and BamBam and sharing more memories
of the two of them. It made me want to meet them even more then I did
before, so we picked up the pace and made good time to The Bridge. It
was so very lovely, but it always is - it is just that each time I come
here it is different and I don't mean seasonal either - there were
dozens of hydrangea in full bloom, they were that magical shade of blue
and so very beautiful. There were also gardenia as well, and the smell
coming from them was sweet and dreamy. I felt a soft breeze on my face
and looked around to the Bridge to see the sunlight dancing off of it
and, just as you saw the day BamBam and Edward left you - two rainbows
side by side - going over the Bridge ... and then they were there. Both
looked peaceful and serene, but when they saw Pebbles, Hershel, Frye
and Timmy they came war dancing right on over and began dooking and
sniffing and laughing and there were even a few tear as well - those
were mine.
When I see new arrivals. I am all to aware that sometimes they come
here after a long illness, or an injury which left them lame, or - and
I hate saying this, because of abuse and neglect, but when they get
here, they are made whole. They can walk and see, have all of their
fur, they are no longer sick, or lame, and any memory of harm is gone.
They are made whole again, just as The Big Guy made them in the first
place.
So as asked for, they are ALL together and they are all happy, but most
of all they are thankful for having been a part of your family! And
keep in mind, they will also be looking in on the both of you too!
In Love & In Comfort,
Pie O' Pah
