Ok, here's somethining to think about. For those of you who are having
reactions to this the rabies vaccine, I have a question for you.
Are you giving YEARLY rabies vaccinations? ABout 10yrs ago at a vet
conference my vet went to, the vets finally admitted they they now feel
they/we are OVER vaccinating our kids and after a certain age, it is
more important tot do health checks yearly or bi-yearly. Now for dogs
and cats the rabies vaccination boosters are givin every 3yrs. I and my
vets do understand that the vaccine may not last as long in a ferret as
in a dog or cat because of theirr high metablism, but feel that giving
yearly rabies shots is rediculous and unneccisary. The vets I use give
them every "2yrs" which they feel is a safe lenght span. Since I don't
show AFA, I do not see the need to do yearly rabies.
Since a vet is giving the certificate and signing it saying bosters are
due in 2yrs, not 1yr, I don't see how a show orginization, town, county
or state officials can dispute the diccision of a vet.
I have never persoanlly had one of my kids have a reaction to the
rabies vaccine, but then again, I don't do them yearly.
Just something to think about.
