I have a 9 year old female ferret who was doing great, had a filled out
belly, felt like a young ferret, but her back legs are "rickety". So we
were prescribed Metacam.
She gets the 1 drop of Metacam with a giant bowl of food. A whole jar
of baby food, plus ground up ferret food, with water...it's a lot of
food. So much, that it can't be said we're giving this to her on an
empty stomach.
So - she has started to go downhill. Her activity level did go up - she
wanted to be up all the time, but seems to be kind of frenzied. Anyway,
I have noticed she just lays her head down and "gives up" after some
moving around. Not like her at all. I have stopped giving the Metacam.
We gave one drop once a day for the last two months.
I am not sure if I made the right decision. I was wondering if anyone
on list has had issues with Metacam or not.
