I thought I would share my latest invention so it may help others. You
know how hard it is to hold a flashlight and scoop the poop and clean
the cages if you must do so in the evening. And often that flashlight
is bright white or worse, bluish if the LED lights. So to make an amber
lens on a flashlight, just a small 2-AA cell size, I cut a circle of
amber plastic from a flat-back prescription bottle, the type from pred.
Tape it in place with some clear packing tape. You may need two layers
to cut the brightness.

I do use the flashlight at times but to go hands-free, I found a light
called the Cat's Eyes which clips on to the visor of a cap.Got it at
Wal-Mart. There are three bright bluish LEDs which last a long time. It
was harder to get something over the shape of the thing so I cut strips
of amber auto lens repair tape and stuck it over each bulb. It took
three layers to cut the brightness and to make the color be yellow
instead of the white/ blue. Now I can use both hands for the cage
care when I haven't been able to in the day.
