If any other FMLers out there like fantasy/science fiction, there's
a series of books by Kat Richardson about a PI in Seattle who is
technically dead for two minutes and comes out of it with the ability
to see into the "Grey", the area between life and death. This woman
owns a ferret (named Chaos!) and the ferret is very realistically
presented. It turns out that the author owns two ferrets herself, which
explains why the ferret in the books is so real. To date, the books are
"Greywalker", "Poltergeist" and "Underground" and I've really enjoyed
them.

Sara and her not so fictional ferrets
