I'm sorry to hear about your little boy.

My dog and cat's vet has three considerations for when it is time for
someone to ask themselves if they should let the animal go.

1. Can the animal still eat on its own?
2. Can the animal still go to the bathroom where it should and
   especially not all over itself?
3. Is the animal still mobil?

In my experience these are very good questions to ask when it has comes
time to let any of my animals go.
