I have to agree with Freddie Ann Hoffman and Rick White that HR 669 is
a BAD bill through and through; adding a provision to allow ferrets
does not make it any better.
As responsible pet owners, we do ourselves no favors by being only
concerned with one species. The owners of hamsters, guinea pigs,
gerbils, tropical fish, birds, reptiles, etc, are no less deserving
of keeping their beloved animals. The decision on what animals are
deemed "safe" ultimately could rest in one person's hands.
I can't help but be reminded of the famous "First they came for the..."
poem. Don't let other people's rights be taken away just because you
may not be directly affected.
Contact your representative and the committee members and ask that the
bill be killed completely and finally.
