I wrote the National Zoo about the ferret cam being off, here's the
response I got-hopefully it will be back up soon!

Thanks for tuning into our ferret cam. Unfortunately, due to staffing
and budget shortfalls, we are behind on camera maintenance. We hope to
repair many of our cams soon and appreciate your patience.

We encourage fans of our web cams to support our conservation efforts
by joining Friends of the National Zoo or making a donation. Caring
for and conserving animals costs a lot, as does the operation of our
web cams.
