One last post about feeding live prey to snakes: This one is pretty
funny. Back in 1975, I was living in CA. when some of my H.S. best
buddies found and captured a huge type of snake that I don't remember
what kind- it was bright yellow and blk- anyway, none of us had much
money- and I was worried that the snake would starve to death. Cut to a
scene where I'm trying to sneak out of K-Mart, with a hamster stuffed
down my pants, and walking stiff-legged past a security guard, all the
while, this hamster is biting me, pissing down my leg and fussing out
loud, up a storm. Yes, served me right for shop lifting a hamster for
snake food. Only to find out a day later that the hamster won - we
found the snake cowering in the corner of a huge wooden box with wire
top- with bite marks all over his body- the hamster was sitting up,
calmly cleaning himself. We returned the snake back to the wild, and
the hamster found a home with me for the next 4 years. Just goes to
show you- size doesn't count at all.
