Unlike most days at de Bridge, today was very rainy. In fact it was
raining whatevers. SaraFerret and de kits had decided to stay inside
dere cottage curled up inside dere nice comfortable hammies and sleep.
It was so quiet, you could've heard a mouse eek. All of a sudden she
heard a knock on de door. She knew who dat was. So she got up and
opened de door and in flew a wet Dexter, de little boy courier.
SawaFewwet, here's de note. 'Members what's happens last time. A fuzzy
is getting ready to cross and you best huwwy up and gets busy and
gweets him. Ok Dexter, just give me de note and let me read it. I read
it and asked Dexter to get two special fuzzies and off he flew. (Dexter
loves to have jobs to do, but sometimes he just doesn't do dem right,
like forgetting to wake me up like last time). But enough of dat and
off thru de rain I ran.
Dripping wet, I arrived just in time to see de little fuzzy creeping
slowly across de bridge. I reached out my paw to him and he took it and
den he just looks at me and says, Where am I and who are you? You look
kinda wet--did you just have a bath? (Since de sun had just decided to
shine and the rain had stopped it was too late to explain all about
it.)
Hi, I guess I did. Gotta keep fresh all de time. I am SaraFerret and
I am a bridgegreeter. Welcome to de Rainbow Bridge. Dis is your new
forever home. Here you will have no more pain or suffering and you will
have lotsa friends. How does dat sound? Well de little fuzzy says, My
name is Roscoe and I belong to Mommy Leah. But as you can see I can't
seem to walk or move well. At dat moment something happened! POOF! He
could get up on all four legs and stretch and move around and his body
felt just as good as it did when he was young. Hey, he asked, how did
dat happen? Oh things happen like dat here, I replied. Den once again,
he asked, and dose friends, I don't know anyone here. And won't my
Mommy be wondering about me? In reply, I said: Well, I think your Mommy
probably knows dat you have crossed but we will check with her later
on. As for friends, you will meet others later on. And guess what else
you are gonna get? You are gonna get wings to fly about de clouds with.
Wings? he said, what are wings? Dese things on my shoulders are wings,
I said. Oh, ok, he said. I noticed dose, but I didn't know what dey
were and I didn't want to be rude and act funny or somthing.
As we left dere, he noticed things laying all over de ground, kinda
sparkly like. I said, Oh dose are whatevers. Dey fall from de clouds
every time it rains. Dey usually dissolve, but sometimes dey stay
awhile and look real pretty. We headed on down de path toward de Wing
House where de wings were stored. We opened de door and on de counter
was a big box, of course. He opened de box and took out de wings--Neon
Blue with racing cars--perfect for a fuzzy who had been sick for so
long. I helped him put on the wings and adjusted his halo. He ran to
de big vanity mirror and gazed at his reflection and turned to me and
said, Gee I wish Mommy could see me now. Den I gots an idea.
We opened de door and stepped outside. We saw two fuzzies carrying a
cardboard sign which said "Welcome Roscoe." How did dey know I was
coming, he asked. I just laughed and introduced him to dem. Roscoe,
meet Jackson and Taz. Jackson said, We has a lot in common with you. We
were left in a roadside park, wasn't we, Taz? Taz said, Yeah, our owner
got tired of us and then we got run over dere in dat park and den we
both made a quick trip here. Roscoe said he had been dumped too but he
was lucky and he had been found by a new Mommy and spent his last year
being loved. Truly amazing, dey all agreed. So after all dat we
continued on our way toward de Misting Pond and sat down beside de cool
clear water. With one swish, Roscoe saw a vision of Mommy Leah appeah
and he had so much to tell her. Mommy, I made it safe here. You don't
have to worry about me anymore. I has wings now and I can fly. I has
friends too. I was so lucky to have been found by you. Thank you for
taking care of me. Thank you for loving me. I love you so much. Den he
started throwing hugs and kisses and wrapped dem with all of his love
and laid dem on a nearby shooting star which was headed to your house
and by de time you read dis it should have landed dere. And with
another swish de vision was gone.
We left dere and decided to take a detour before dey went to dere
cottage. De Otter Mud Slide. Roscoe was just in awe of dis. Dere was
fuzzies climbing up and sliding down all over de place (yes it was
muddy). Of course dere was a big stack of neatly folded wings. Nobody
every went on dis mess with dere wings on. Jackson, Taz, and Roscoe
slipped off dere wings and stacked dem neatly in a pile and up dey went
and down and up and down until dey looked nothing like dere original
selves. I waved bye to all three of dem. Dey were having so much fun.
So ended another greeting at de bridge and oh yes, I did trip on a
whatever as I headed back to de cottage.
Loveys and hugs,
SaraFerret, bridgegreeter
