Little Andy was playing in the meadow with his friends when Bridge
Greeter No. 421 called to him.

"Hey Andy, De Boss said we missed a couple of little ferrets that
passed two weeks ago," said Bridge Greeter No. 421. "Go over to the
other side of the bridge and have a look around."

Andy hid the ball he was playing with under a fern and scampered off to
the other side of the bridge where there were several small cottages
and a large field of raisin bushes. He looked carefully around, looked
again, and was just ready to leave when he heard a voice say, "Where is
this place? Where is our mother and what is for dinner? Do you have any
duck soup?"

"Who, who's there," Andy said. "Come out so's I can see you."

Andy looked and saw two ferrets walking slowly over to him. "We be
Whitney and Chrissy, and we been here a while," said the first ferret.
"We were hoping to find our way home, but I think we is lost."

"No, you're not lost, you are here at the Rainbow Bridge," Andy said.

"The Rainbow Bridge," said Chrissy. "Our hooman mother said we have
lots of brothers and sisters here, do you suppose we could meet them."

Come with me, and we will go over to see if the No. 421 knows where
they are," Andy said. "Did you get a ticket when you passed by the
Angel in the clouds?"

"Yeh, we did, but I lost it," Whitney said. "Are there many ferrets
waiting here?"

Andy brought the two ferrets to Bridge Greeter 421 and told him they
had brothers and sisters here, but they lost their ticket.

421 got to his feet, and asked Whitney and Crissy if they would like to
have something to eat while he took the matter up with de Boss? The two
ferrets were very hungry and asked if there was any duck soup left.

421 told Andy to take them to the lunch table and have cookie fix them
some soup.

A cute little waitress came along and asked if Crissy was newly
arrived. "Yes mam, I only be here today," Crissy said.

The waitress served the ferrets their soup, then asked Whitney and
Crissy to tell her what was going on "Down There." Whitney told the
waitress about the home they had just left, and their hooman Mom Sally.

"Sally" asked the waitress? "That was my hooman Moms name too. I'm here
waiting tables until she comes and gets me," Sally said. "She is a
wonderful Mom, and I hated to leave her, but I'se be sick. Now, I am
all better, so I just keep working and waiting."

Whitney and Crissy looked at each other. "Do you have any other ferret
brothers and sisters here," they asked. "Yes, there are 18 of us, all
waiting for our Mom Sally."

Bridge Greeter No. 421 came walking across the field and sat down,
slowly. He asked the waitress to bring him a cold lemonade, and turned
to Whitney and Crissy. "I just spoke to de Boss, and I am to tell you,
that you have quite a large family here already. Your waitress is one
of them, When she comes back, she will take you to meet the rest of
the crew."

Whitney and Crissy could hardly wait to tell their sister all about
their earthly home. The little ferret, wiped her eyes on her apron and
said she was glad to hear that her Hooman Mom still had some ferrets to
hug, and she would take care of the family up here until they were all
together again.

Bridge Greater No. 421 sniffed loudly and blew his nose on his napkin.
He said that cold drinks made his nose run, and he thought he had
better get back to his post.

Leaving Whitney and Crissy in care of the waitress, he lumbered back to
his chair by the bridge. The little waitress took her apron off, and
taking Whitney and Crissy by the paw, led them to the home they would
share with the other St. Germain kids.
