Yes, There is an organization that will certify a ferret as a Therapy
animal. I am a member of it and I posted it. No they do not do the same
as a Service animal does. There is a difference in that. I am with PAWS
and I posted that info and gave the link to them. I have 4 Certified
Therapy Ferrets that I do take into Nursing Homes here in Louisiana.
Delta will not certify ferrets do to the fact that classify them as
"exotics" and they say that "exotics" can't be any type of service or
therapy animal. Basically what mine do - they go in and the people are
happy to see them. They hold them and they give them love. That is what
some people want and need to do. Hold and love animals. No the ferrets
can't go and do the things that the big animals can do such as get
something for you that a Service animal can do, but they can bring a
smile and laughter to their faces and that is what we do.
Hugs,
Nancy in Louisiana
