I hope I didn't give the wrong impression. My group of RWE ferrets
are ferrets that were going to be euthanized for aggression if they
had gone back to the breeder. Most of them were so very sick with
Pasteurella that they could barely breathe or eat. Thanks to their
initial rescuer, they received the right medicine and recipe feedings
till they could be relocated to our home.
Not all RWE ferrets are as attitudey as the ones I have. We bought
these little ones to save their lives and that was the final option
for them. None of us blame the ferrets. They still get hugs, cuddles,
and kisses, though we watch our noses, lips, and hands when doing so
but sometimes we get a little too carefree. Some of them do well with
me but not with other ferrets, some do well with other ferrets but not
so well with humans and one doesn't do well with either but we all
manage to make it work in the best interest of the little ones. Certain
ferrets are unpredictable and we accept that. It isn't that they don't
understand that they shouldn't bite, it's that they just don't care.
Seriously. When I get bit deep and hard, the offender is off as fast
as the wind with me hot on their furry little tail. Don't worry, it
appears to be more of a game to them than anything as they slip into
tunnels or under cages where they know I can't get them. If I do catch
them they go in time-out for awhile in a clean cozy fully equipped
cage after a stern talking to while juggling them so as not to get
bitten again. I imagine it might be quite comical to watch and if
ferrets could laugh evil laughs I'm sure they would be doing it.
At least my life is interesting...
