Hi All -

I've heard from a few people that being taken to the zoo, especially
if she's used for educational purposes, might not be such a bad thing
after all. And after thinking it over a little while longer, I doubt
comments from or being contacted by anyone who isn't local would do
any good.

I did suggest next time it might be better to not allow television
stations and newspapers to show the animal's picture or disclose
whether it is male or female. That way, the real owner would be able
to identify it. I also mentioned that if the owner rents and is not
allowed to have pets, they may not feel comfortable coming forward to
claim her due to all of the publicity.

I have to say though, that it is odd that none of the people claiming
to own her had any kind of documentation. Not even a picture. Well, one
person had an out-of-focus cell phone pic, but I was told a cell phone
pic alone, even a good one, wouldn't have been accepted as proof of
ownership.

If nothing else, I guess this could be used as a heads-up to people
that are new to ferrets or have 'new' ferrets, or who have recently
moved and have all of their pics, receipts or vet records packed away
in a box. Always know where those things are, take lots of pics and
keep a recent one handy since some ferrets' coats and patterns change
so drastically sometimes.

Thanks again.
