I was also told lupron had to be injected into the leg/thigh area.
I printed out anatomy pages and learned. BUT - the reason vets do
it subq is because it works, and you have a very large chance of
paralyzing/damaging the leg if you do it in the thigh if you have
nothing to really work with, no big muscles.

I've done a leg injection on a very large female where I could tell
exactly where to go. It worked just fine. But, that's not for the faint
of heart and I really don't recommend it. I did it before I realized
that subq works just as well according to most veterinarians. On a male
ferret, I did subq. The thing is, he developed a very large lump that
became red, and then orange, with orange crust. Terrified, I went
online and asked if anyone else had encountered this; a few people
said yes, one person said yes to the orange, and suggested compresses.

Of course since they are totally different ferrets, and only two, I
can't possibly compare the results (leg to sq).
