I use the back room to let the fur kids run where there is nothing they
can destroy that I cannot sacrifice to them. The family room where
their cage is has sofas that they both now have found ways to tunnel
into and rip to shreds from the inside out thus limiting their out time
in that room.
To keep them in the back room I have a piece of ply wood used as a
slider to block the door way. I use a heavy box of goods to hold it up
on the end where the outside door slides and the track on the other
side where the plywood fits into to stop it on the other side.
Pester had figured out that where the movable door was about 2 inches
from the plywood, she could put her back on the glass door and 'walk'
up on the plywood thus getting over the top. So I put a short piece of
2 X 4 on a pair of brackets to block that exit at the top. Well, Pester
found that she could climb up and push that block out of the way.
So I put a bracket at one end to stop the block from being pushed up.
But Pester found she could slide it to one side and still get out!
Imagine my surprise to hear noise inside a love seat to find Pester
inside it! Sheesh!
So I put a stop on that slide such I can remover the block if I choose
and the slide is still functional. But that now is also compromised
where Pester has figured out a way of that one!
Not giving up, I rely in my years of High Speed Packaging Engineering
to devise a 'better mouse trap', in this case a better Pester trap!
Will have to work on this a bit, will let you know how she figures the
new one out and compromises it!
