Hi- I have worked at a Petco for many years and dealt with their
upper management extensively. Just so everyone knows, who the animal
distributors are is a district management descion and is determined
by cost of the animals- THAT is the bottom line. Temperament is not
an issue. Where the animals are obtained will change by district,
depending on management. Marshall ferrets are still in most Petco
stores, the Canadian ferrets are probably a trial run as they are
cheaper than Marshall ferrets. If you are truly concerned about this
contact California corporate and express your concerns, but have paper
to back you up, and have other people for them to talk to as well. Be
very calm and express ONLY fact, not opinion- as if you were testifying
in court. Leave multiple contact numbers and addresses. Have shelter
information as well- that these ferrets have and most likely will be
turned over, but again have at least one shelter person who has
recently had some turned in give facts about what these animals are
like as pets and why it is not a good idea for any retailer to be
selling them when they have docile ferrets available. If you need/want
any more information on this feel free to email me privately.
