Hello,
We have an almost 7-year old male ferret who recently began displaying
symptoms of insulinoma, a diagnosis that the vet confirmed last week.
He is not a good candidate for surgery due to his age and the vet put
him on glucocorticoid therapy. He is doing fine so far, but he has
lost weight and I'd like to know if there is anything we can feed him
in addition to what he is already getting that will help him regain
weight. He has always been a big weasel, at 3.75 lbs, and he now
weights less than 3 lbs and he looks too thin.
His appetite is good; he gets Totally Ferret, as well as cooked organic
chicken and turkey, ferretone and various protein-based chew treats,
and he's eating all of it with as much enjoyment has he always has. Is
there anything else we can give him that will benefit him and help him
regain lost weight?
Thank you ~
Carol in CA
