I sent out an email requesting prayer, good thoughts, etc. because the
"rescue" is facing a possible shut down. I didn't tell anyone because
we are trying to stay under the radar so there isn't any negativity
from anyone and we want to comply with what the city wants us to do.
Here's what is taking place:

Precious people thank you for your patience.

I will try to keep this as short as possible (don't bet on it...lolol).

The shelter got a visit from the city of Auburn after the news carried
the fact that the "rescue" has 141 ferrets in the house. We were told
that we are in violation of city code for city limits (only 4 "pets"
are allowed per household). Even tho we have a state license...it
doesn't help us with the city. The city is not processing our
"violation" because we are acting quickly. Praise the Lord.

We are trying to get a "business" license with the city for a "RESCUE"
status. Now, understand, the city is not encouraging us, but is not
discouraging us either. We have paper work to fill out, and get back
into them asap with the right answers and the right way to put the
answers..::::sigh:::

We have to go before a council with documents in hand, and any positive
letters regarding how the shelter has helped person(s) with their
ferrets. If anyone of you would like to email ME a letter regarding how
the "rescue" (I keep putting that because we don't fit under "shelter"
status for the city) has helped you and/or your ferret(s) feel free.
Again, send them only to [log in to unmask] . If you could do it
in the next 2 days we could hand all of them in with our paper work. I
know this is short notice...but time is of the essence.

I THANK YOU for your help. We have continued operating like "normal"
(setting on the dryer..lolol).

We were also invited to KOMO 4 yesterday to tape a 6 min. segment for
Northwest Afternoon. It will be airing February 21st and I believe
NWAfternoon is at 3pm. We will be saving it on our tivo. woohooo.

We really appreciate the support and the caring. Please continue to
keep the "rescue" in your prayers because we have a few weeks ahead
of us before this thing is resolved.

(Hopefully my ulcer will not flare up too bad...:::ugh:::)

Thank you all, you are soooooooooooooo appreciated.

This is NOT affecting the care of the ferrets or shelter, in fact we
have gotten donations and an anonymous donor actually called, met me
at Lowes (like Home Depot) and bought all of the tile, underlayment,
glue and sealant (sp) for the back area where the ferrets are. WOOHOOO
Praise the Lord and whoop it up.

My concern is that we write the right words on the questions and that
this "board" listens and has a heart. We do have King County Animal
Services backing the "rescue". That is quite a plus because they work
with the city of Auburn.

It's not all bad....it's just gut wrenching. My hubby has been
struggling a little bit with his health during this...(he has
congestive heart failure, is a diabetic and is a leg amputee.) so
I am also asking prayer for him. Thanks.

Thanks for being a precious and wonderful community of caring, loving
people...not only for the greatest animal on the planet (ferrets of
course) but for the people who love 'em too.

Denise

Have a 'ferret' day.
