Chance was lying behind a bush, covered with blood - bones protruding
from two of his legs and intestines showing through a large wound in
his side. Possibly he'd been attacked by the family Rottweiler and put
outside to die. When two days passed and the ferret was still alive,
someone in the family called a vet. The vet, in turn, called Sandi
Robinson of the Heaven Scent Rescue/Shelter. Would she be willing to
go get the ferret? The costs would be high, and the odds of him making
it would be quite slim. But Sandi said yes. It was July 4th, 2004.

The vet expected to have to amputate one or both ravaged limbs, but
Chance was a fighter. Numerous splints, several surgeries, $1700 in
vet bills and six months later, Chance was finally strong enough to
begin physical therapy.

It was a very long, difficult road, but now Chance is dooking and
dancing with the best of them. He even has a girlfriend, Athena -
another special needs kid at the Heaven Scent shelter.

You can see a picture of Chance on our Friends of Ferret Shelters
website: http://www.shelterfriends.blogspot.com - and read more about
Sandi, her special ferrets, and a shelter that has saved so many, many
ferrets over the past 12 years.

While there, check out the 12 terrific prizes up for grabs in our
October/November raffle, the last one in 2007. Every penny from your
ticket purchases will be donated to the Heaven Scent shelter, a
501(c)(3) located in Dothan, Alabama. (http://fuzzyslave.tripod.com/)

  including a Southwestern-themed gourmet basket that'll keep your
  inner fire blazin';

  treats;

  goodies,
- A tunnel hammie, blanket, toy and treat set;
- A "crinkle tunnel" more than a yard long that your ferret - and

and his precious little friends at the Heaven Scent shelter.
