Hi everybody! I hope you are all having a safe new year thus far.
Concerning the person who apparently writes of herbs on several Yahoo
groups and is, it would appear, keenly disliked by someone....
I am really sorry that your feelings have been so hurt. It must feel
just terrible. Others I have met or written to have told me of being
very badly emotionally hurt also by cruel things being written on
various groups. In fact, one person may be allowed to write something
terrible about person A. But when that person writes to defend herself,
the moderator will not allow it. .
I would just not belong to the groups where hurtful things were being
written about you. Or just write back to people having questions
individually. Maybe have a web page set up with some advice on it. You
could just suggest that people go to that site and then email you with
any further questions.
I go to a number of seminars on health and herbs and vitamins that are
given to doctors. I used Shark cartilage for years for my ferrets. Then
further studies disproved the first one . Meanwhile, I had been telling
people that I was using it and several other things I now no longer
give to the ferts.
I can see how it can be a topic that can be upsetting. These items can
be expensive. And if not FDA approved, we have no idea how much of a
substance is in the bottle.
I stay away from herbal discussions now, unless something appears to be
working really well for me, such as what I take for insomnia. What one
study says is marvelous 5 years ago, another study may well disprove a
month from now.
I remember taking some bee pollen thing for years. It was supposed to
do all these marvelous things. When I think of the thousands of dollars
I spent on stuff over the years, I cringe a little. Maybe the person
who seems to dislike you is feeling that way? Maybe you could back up
any advice with the studies done, and years of clinical trials. There
is a place for herbs. I have no doubt of that..
But know that Even in the dental field, research can be done that is
fraudulent. I study came out years ago showing a product was better
than brushing and flossing combined. That just did not make any sense
to me. So I did not promote it. Years later, it was shown that this
product was not better than brushing and flossing in any other study.
Frankly, I am skeptical of ANY research now. I think people can be paid
off. I am not asking you to feel or think that way. That is just me..
I just had a dental cement that had excellent results in the studies
done. Every crown I put on fell off within 3 months. Thankfully, after
the first 2 came off...we stopped using the product. But what a
nightmare. The study was a crock.
It was the first time I did not wait a good 2 years after a product was
out to use it. I will never make such a mistake again.
But know that you are not alone. And I am glad that you wrote to ask
the question. A problem shared is a problem cut in half.
