Linguini had a broken front canine this past spring - no idea how
it happened. I noticed it when she was at the water bottle lapping.
Sometimes a broken tooth is not a big deal, depending on where the
break occurs. In her case the vet was unsure since it was borderline.
He took a photo of her tooth and sent it to a veterinary dentist
experienced in ferrets, as well as to other professional colleagues.
The consensus was to remove it! There wasn't any sign of infection in
the root area when he removed it so she didn't even have to be on
antibiotics.

So she only has 3 canines. It has made absolutely no difference to her
eating habits or play behaviours, except she can't carry around her
favourite large metal bell ball anymore. In fact as soon as she came
out of the anaesthesia she started eating her crunchy ferret food even
though I had prepared some soft food.
