Diane,
In response to your post:
Assuming that he is as well as he is today what other factors should I
be thinking about for quality of life?
Fortunate little guy to have landed on your caring front door!
I am posting here rather than emailing you privately in case others may
find this information useful.
I'm sure you remember Sierra, the paraplegic little one Trudy Wallach
is caring for at the MaFF shelter from the Giving Tree Party? Even
though her back legs are totally paralyzed, her energy and ability to
get around with or without her wheelchariot (Ferret Flier) are amazing.
A model example that a seriously disabled ferret can continue to have a
high quality of life.
Information on the FERRET FLIER Sierra received from her Secret Santa,
which was custom ordered to her specifications can be found at:

This device may be something to consider for this little guy as part of
his post-surgical rehabilitation.
Prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery to this feisty little
gib. He's in the best possible hands he could have landed.
Tressie
