This one was swallowed, I'm afraid. It is in relation the shelter being put in the middle by a divorcing couple: A: Honestly, no shelter should ever be put in the middle like this. The shelter should check with the state's law school(s) and legal associations about some pro bono guidance, and the spouses who are soon to be exes should work out with their judge who gets which ferrets, at which point the shelter can follow the judge's guidance. The shelter people are not in the right position to make the choice. As if shelters didn't have enough burdens... They can't make divorce settlement choices for volunteers, too, despite how painful the whole thing is for all.
