I have a white baby (Cody) who is 5 years old and is losing hair all
over his body --its getting pretty thin.... my first thought as a
ferret owner of over 12 years is the dreaded adrenal disease, i have
3 spoiled ones here -- Cody-Zipper -- Cayenne these are 100% indoor
ferrets they have a 15 x8 room of their own and their play room is our
den a whopping 26 x 18 with toy box tubes treats plastic bags -- boxes
that occasional come alive and move across the floor :) ----so here is
the deal. I called our local vet (Sno-wood vet in Woodinville) that I
have always taken our others too... use to be a local owned now part
of a chain VCA hospitals of America...the doctors are nice but I am
looking for a local owned ferret vet.....Anyhow - I took him there
and here is the breakdown of the exam and charges....they seem
ridiculous....but we do what we can for our little ones.
exam 47.50
xrays 149.00
blood panel 120.00
blood panel - adrenal 350.00
distemper - 17.00
dphenhydramine - 25.00
midazamole - 25.00 (for the xray sedation)
I chose the distemper --no pre-sedation ill stay there for 30 mins--
rabies maybe later if at all -- the exam and the reg blood panel. Have
they always done the hormone panel separate -- i dont remember 450.00
for blood workup..so I was told that lupron was on backorder -- why do
the panel? what other treatment options are there -- has anyone else
had any trouble getting lupron...I would like to go to a different vet
if anyone in the Seattle area can advise,
Thanks
