Yes, I'm behind. I'm sorry.

Here's my final words of so-called wisdom.

Have a plan.

Practice your plan. Repeatedly. In various scenarios (in the dark,
as though water was up to your ankles, flames are everywhere, etc).

Expect your plan to fail. Your car may be in the shop, the shelter you
go to may not accept pets, a tree may fall on your head. Anything.

Plan for an earthquake, fire, flood or famine. Expect that none of
these will happen, but something else will. In twos. Or threes (Katrina
was a hurricane with winds, storm surge and flooding. And heat. Etc.)

Accept the fact that you tried your best. Be kind to yourself. Accept
the fact that no one, including yourself, is perfect.
