BRUNSWICK COUNTY

UNCW club holds free rabies clinic

Have your dogs, cats or ferrets had their rabies vaccinations?

If not, you can take them to Brunswick River Park 1-3 p.m. Saturday
for a free vaccination. The park is on N.C. 133 in Belville. The
Pre-Veterinary Medical Association at the University of North Carolina
Wilmington is offering its first free rabies clinic in Brunswick
County.

Thanks to the success of a no-cost rabies clinic Sept. 8 at UNCW, the
association decided to hold another in Brunswick County. The group
organized the clinic along with Sheila Hanby, owner of Capeside Animal
Hospital, and Brunswick County Animal Services.

Pet owners should bring certificates for any animals that have had
prior rabies vaccinations, said Robert Weedon, the group's adviser.

All animals should be properly restrained - cats and ferrets in
carriers and dogs on leashes.

The students will be on hand to help out with paperwork as the
veterinarian administers the rabies vaccinations, Weedon said.
