Dear SaraFerret,

Can you please see that Lucy is greeted at the bridge? She passed this
morning as I was rushing her to the vet. Lucy came to me 2 months ago
as a rescue. She had been abandoned in an apartment, and folks figured
she had been there a week before anyone found her. She was starved,
bald, and stinky, but she wasn't giving up. Once we got her eating,
she put on weight and put on fur! The vet figured she was about six
years old. Lucy would get up and out of the cage on her own, and go
exploring. The boys of course wanted to pounce and play with her, but
they finally realized they had to be gentle with her.

Then Sunday, she took a bad turn. Bloody poops, never a good sign. I
took her to the emergency vet who wanted to euthanize her right then
and there. I said no, and is she in pain? No pain, but she may go at
any time. Fine. Let us go home. She ate some soup, drank some water,
and I put her to bed for the night. She was awake this morning, but
very weak and pale. I called ahead and left a message for the vet that
we were on the way. The vet is 50 minutes away, and if they had no one
available, I wanted to go somewhere else. Well, we wheel into the vets
office to find no vet. Oh my, the front office girl said. We haven't
checked messages today. So sorry. GRRRRRR!!! So off we go to the other
vet, who is another 30-40 minutes away. Poor Lucy died on the way.

Dear little Lucy, I hope your last two months were good! We tried to
give you as much love and kisses and possible. I hope you did not
suffer as you went, and you realized I was trying to get you to help
as quick as I could. I heard you vocalize, but didn't realize that you
were saying goodbye. Daddy Jon will bury you in your favorite snuggly
sack. I hope you remember us as we will always remember you.

SaraFerret, if possible please let Spree, Brownie, Zander and Little
Bit know that another member of the Paws to the Wall Gang is on the
way.

Jill and the Paws to the Wall Gang, that being Scruffy and Lucky
