Hi everyone,
Sorry it took so long to update on Eduardo Zeppelin-Godzilla von
Sockslayer, he is now aggressively healthy again so it hasn't been
foremost on my mind.
After chest x-rays and bloodwork, none of the really scary bugaboos
came up, which was a tremendous relief. No cardiomyopathy or congenital
abnormalities, thankfully. The practice's internal medicine specialist
just happened to be there that day, so they had him take a look at the
x-ray. What they did find was FAT in his mediastinal cavity! He didn't
have what they call "donuts," rings of fat around the trachea that
actually look like donuts on an x-ray, just some random fat floating
around. I knew he was tubby, but that is ridiculous. The vet put Eddie
on a course of Clavamox just in case of infection, which he absolutely
hated, the coughing seems to be mostly cleared up, and I'm trying to
put him on a diet. This is proving difficult, as he shares a cage and
a dish with Miss Pukka-chan, who is about half his size and completely
naked. I don't fill the dish as full, but I have to make sure Pukka
eats before Eddie snorks it all up.
Any thoughts on weight loss? I know this topic came up fairly recently
so I'll look at back issues. He gets enough exercise, trying to hide
the entire universe under my dresser one sock at a time. I swear, if
you are missing something, it's probably there. I try to give him
lots of active play, and he loves to climb, jump, chase, and wrestle
whatever he can (including poor Pukka!). His new game is climbing up
the closet shelves and trying to grab onto the hangers.
So that's Eddie at the moment, and I want to belatedly thank everyone
for their help! Time to go catch up on skimmed FMLs...
