That is a sore spot to me (and probably every other ferret owner). As
a rule, ferrets don't have fleas or ticks, don't make loud noises, and
are not necessarily destructive (hint: look for tile floors), and don't
scare small children. I had to rent temporarily while relocating to
another city, and the apartment manager was unsure of whether to allow
my two ferrets, although they did allow small pets, so I introduced her
to Prissy & Kissy, and they did the adorable thing up big time. She was
ready to run out and get a couple of her own. I paid a damage deposit,
and guaranteed to replace the rug if it was stained or torn .... when
I left, the manager returned my deposit, and said that from now on,
she was only going to rent to people with ferrets .... of course, I
was VERY careful to take good care of those rugs ... so maybe bringing
them with you (unannounced surprise) when you go, might help ....
[A later P.S.:]
Shucks, hate it when my finger hits the "send" button before I am
done ... anyway, I also wanted to say that a letter from your previous
landlord attesting to the ferrets good conduct (and yours) can often
help. I was a landlord for awhile ... good luck.
